Why do we keep having Recessions??

Don't you find it unusual that we keep having recessions?? You would think the people that run our countries would look at the mistakes of the past to make sure they don't repeat them, or at least would know a recession is coming!! Or do the people who run this world benefit from recessions happening??? Why hasn't this blatantly flawed system been changed??

A recession is when there is a significant decline in the economy, consumers spend less, a lot of people are jobless and industries slow down. This has happen frequently throughout history and the governments have not made sufficient changes to counter this and the people have accepted it as the norm!!

The European & US debt crisis has caused a catastrophic domino effect across the globe. There has been a drop in spending in every sector of society worldwide! Companies that were stable have collapsed and the middle class has dramatically decreased across the western world. Although the scale of this problem is bigger, it is not the first time it has happened, and changes SHOULD have been made a long time ago to prevent it from happening again.

Our current economic recession is continually compared to the Great Depression of the 1930's. And although this time the corporations are feeling more of a hit, it's still nothing compared to the effect on the common person. The major corporations and banks are allowed to do what they want and are only ever lightly punished for their bad behaviour. The kinds of fines they receive for taking advantage of the people are minuscule in comparison to the money they make. Very rarely is a corporation shut down or anyone thrown in jail, and is always just a "scapegoat". The global corporations and banks are clearly above government and the world system is how they want it to be, with the people being taken advantage of and the government policies favouring corporations and the rich.

Governments, in theory should be for the people and not the corporations. In times like this a good government should be encouraging spending, abolishing certain taxes, lowering interests rates, controlling prices, policing the corporations, etc. But instead the majority the western governments are pushing the squeeze on the people through austerity and not the corporations (who may get a slap on the wrist!!).

Many global economists predicted this recession and the government chose to ignore it as doing something about it would have unsettled their relationships with the corporations. The whole system has to change!! And we, the people seem to have our memories erased and fail to see the signs whenever history is repeating itself and another recession is on the way.

Do NOT forget this recession!! Remember how it happened so you don't feel like an idiot who repeated mistakes with the rest of the world when the next one comes or when the final collapses hits!!!
