The piece of jewelry that is most often warn by men, is the engagement and/or wedding ring, but this only became customary during the 20th century, before then only the wife got a ring. The ring, in form of a circle has no beginning or end and is used as a symbol of infinity and eternal love. In Europe the wedding ring is mostly worn on the ring finger on the right hand and the engagement ring on the left, while in the US it is opposite. The choice of finger has varied from ancient time till now. During the 17th century in England it was not unusual to wear the wedding ring on the thumb. Gauls and Britons wore their rings on the middle finger. According to the book “Finger ring law”, the belief in the middle ages was that a vain went straight to the hart from that finger. Similar claims to the “Vena amoris” have been made for the ring fingers.Making silver "Prospect of a promise rings" - YouTube | |
