The devastated husband of strangled teaching assistant Lindsay Birbeck says he has been "broken" by his wife's brutal killing. It comes after a 16-year-old boy was on Tuesday arrested on suspicion of her murder. Lindsay was found dead 12 days after she was first reported missing. A subsequent post-mortem revealed that Lindsay died as a result of compression to her neck, with reports suggesting that there was an attempt to conceal her body. Her devastated husband Tim, 49, said he has been “broken” by the killing. Writing to a friend on Facebook, he added: "broken mate, it certainly hurt". The stricken father went on to thank detectives investigating his wife’s killing. Tim continued: "Amazing work from the whole investigation team - you have been amazing in this speedy arrest and the way you have been with my family. Thank you all". The couple’s 19-year-old son Steven blasted his mother’s alleged killer, saying they had denied her the chance of becoming a grandmother, the Mail reported. He added: "The fact that she will never see me and my sister grow up and not going to be there on our wedding days and never see her grandchildren deeply saddens us." Lancs cops are calling on the public to come forward with any information that may help with their enquiries. Det Supt Andy Cribbin, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “The response to our earlier appeal has been absolutely overwhelming and I would like to thank everyone who has come forward with information. “While we have made an arrest our enquiries are very much continuing and I would continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward. “However I would urge people not to speculate and to be mindful of the comments they make, especially on social media, as this causes distress to the family and could impact on our investigation.”
