A host of online banking apps have gone down this morning, leaving UK customers locked out of their accounts. There are hundreds of reports emerging on website DownDetector, with users struggling to log in. People have been affected across the UK, according to an outage map. One HSBC customer tweeted: "Can you put a message on the front screen of your online banking service that its down as I've wasted some password attempts now as I was unaware. Why don't you do this?" Another wrote: "@HSBC_UK is your app and online banking down? I can’t seem to log into either." Someone else added: "@HSBC_UK is the system down? As I’m struggling to sign into my account online or using the app." A frustrated Tesco user said: @TescoBankNewsdown again what a joke! Not ideal on pay day AND Tesco bank goes down weekly! “Seriously annoyed! I will be changing banks for sure!" A Nationwide customer added: “Gone to use the app again today and not working at all, same issue." Issues still persist with the HSBC and Tesco apps, but the Nationwide glitch has been resolved. HSBC responded in a statement: “We're aware some customers are having problems using Online and Mobile Banking. “We're really sorry and are working hard to fix this.”
