A teenage girl who was savagely attacked by her dad after he suspected she had a boyfriend has told a court how she "pretended to be dead" so he would stop. The 18-year-old was kicked and punched until she blacked out in an "unprovoked and sustained attack". James Price, 54, from Gloucester, was jailed on Tuesday for the vicious attack which came just days after he was released from prison for assaulting an ex-partner. Gloucester Crown Court heard Price's attack on his teenage daughter was so violent that she blacked out. As he kicked and punched her, Price told his daughter that she wasn't going to live any longer. The attack was sparked after Price became suspicious that she was in a relationship with her driving instructor, Gloucestershire Live reports . Before he was sentenced, Price's daughter tearfully read an emotional impact statement to the court. She said: "I felt the impact from every blow so I pretended to be dead to make it stop. "But it just went on and I put my hands to my face to protect myself from him. "I was scared and I thought I was going to die. "Afterwards, I was throwing up blood and I was shocked and confused. I didn't realise that he was capable of doing such a thing." The daughter went on: "My face and throat hurt and I still have difficulty swallowing. My ribs hurt and I was in pain all the time. "Even the roots of my hair hurt where he dragged me." She said that she feels "scared of adults now, particularly men, and I am scared of being left alone". Throughout the statement, she clutched a small, white fluffy toy, while her dad, sitting a few yards away from her in the dock, wept quietly. Prosecuting barrister Tara Wolfe said: "Her mother passed away when she was just 11 and she went to live with her father. "She is a very bright and articulate young woman but has been diagnosed with autism and is vulnerable. "Everything was all right at first but then she became scared of her father, who was cruel to her." Price was jailed in February 2017, and very shortly after his release, he attacked his own daughter on October 1, 2017. The court heard Price returned home on a Sunday night after drinking all day and was crying and emotional. When his daughter tried to calm him down, he turned on her, calling her "weak and pathetic". Wolfe went on: "He started to interrogate her about her driving instructor, who he thought was having an affair with her. "He then launched a hideous attack on her, dragging her by the hair into the living room." The attack finally stopped and at around 4am, she left home to go and stay with her grandparents. She didn't go to the police until June 2018, after she told teachers at school about the assault. Price was jailed for two years and eight months on Tuesday and was also given a restraining order for life.
